WORKFLOW

I believe that preproduction is the key to success in whole film production. In short words: the better we are prepared, the better effects we will have. Of course, it is  not good to overdo. This may cause lose of creativity and ability to adjust some decisions on set.

I approach each project individually. All films require developing their own language and own visual style.

Depending on the complexity of the scenes and the length of the film, I use different tools:

  • floorplans (animated and the usual ones, on paper)
  • previsualizations of the scenery and lighting
  • more or less complicated camera tests and simplified storyboards

I believe that when working with a director, it is crucial to discuss all the project’s assumptions thoroughly, scene by scene, so that we understand each other well and can work well together during the shoot.

On set, I try not to take too much time with camera or lighting crew work. I really appreciate universal light settings that will work well in numerous shots. The cinematography, as well as the DoP’s work, should support the film, not take all the attention.
